Why the iPad Works So Well

Apple-iPadIt has been less than a full week since the official unveiling of Apple’s new tablet and so many people are speaking in praise of the device. It is amazing to see how this small device is able to impress so many despite having its own minor flaws.

Presentation wise, there is nothing lacking in the iPad. It simply looks great. While some might say that it looks nothing more than just an oversized iPhone, there is plenty to appreciate in the iPad. First, the 9.7 inch screen is gloriously bright. It also comes with a new form of LCD technology that allows for deeper, richer colors.  The bevel around the tablet provides ample space to grab with your hand without accidentally tapping the screen.

Handling the iPad itself is a surprising breeze. First, it weighs in at only 1.5 pounds, making it easy to carry with just one hand and not tiring to support on your lap or your knee. The screen is also very responsive to commands. Plus, it is huge. Viewing at a full 1024 x 768 pixels lets you see websites they way they were meant to be. Pinching gives you fast results thanks to the high speed A4 processor.

Interface wise, the iPad is lacking in terms of handling typing. You can type a pretty long email on the onscreen keyboard, but it could use a little improvement as it lacks feedback.  Getting used to typing on the iPad takes some time –hopefully, they will patch it with some form of feedback.

Overall, the iPad is a great device, sure it lacks Flash support and multi tasking, but with apple controlling all the hardware specs, it would only be a matter of time before those were also implemented.
