According to reports, Apple might be preparing for the possibility of a massive battery failure problem for their iPad devices. Apple has stated that “If your iPad requires service due to the battery’s diminished ability to hold an electrical charge, Apple will replace your iPad for a service fee”.
It’s a bit unfair that buyers will have to shoulder the service fee for a factory defect too. Apple is now backing up previously unconfirmed rumors that the tablet will have a battery life that reaches up to ten hours on a full charge, though no word has been given on what processes it can run for that long.
In any case, this may be linked to the earlier reports that iPad manufacturers in China have been having some problems. While some thought that this was the reason why the iPad was going to be delayed in the UK, this news about the battery guarantee shows that there might be more to this than Apple is telling us.
In any case, Vodafone has already confirmed that they will be offering the device to customers when the tablet finally hits the shelves.
The device comes with a 9.7 inch capacitive touch screen display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. It runs on a 1GHz A4 processor and will be able to support WiFi, 3G (some versions), read eBooks, play games, browse the net and even serve as a mini workstation or media player.
Lacking in the device’s features is Flash support and multitasking. When asked about Adobe Flash, Steve Jobs was quite stern in pointing out that the iPad would never support Adobe Flash and that HTML5 is the future of web. As for the lack of multi tasking (also absent on the iPhone), many are still hoping that it will be enabled in the device later on.
