Carphone Warehouse Stocks Motorola Milestone

The Motorola Milestone is now available to purchase from Carphone Warehouse. Plenty of Android fans in the UK have been waiting for the arrival of this smart phone since last year but it was snagged in an exclusivity deal with eXpansys. While many were still able to purchase the device at the strictly-online store, the rest of us waited for the day that the phone will actually be stocked in brick and mortar store shelves.

Now, the wait is over and Carphone Warehouse gets to offer the device to its clients under various deals from mobile network operators.

Orange Mobile, T-Mobile and Vodafone are all offering deals for the smart phone. The device comes with a Qualcomm 600MHz processor, the new Android 2.0 Éclair (though there are reports that it can be updated to version 2.1), and a 5 mega pixel camera. This smart phone managed to grab a lot of attention for being the first smart phone with the (then) new Google OS and for being one of the first Android mobile phones that make use of a slide out QWERTY keyboard.

The Milestone was originally launched as the Motorola DROID in the US under the carrier Verizon where it remains as an exclusive device. Motorola has since renamed the smart phone, enable multi touch capabilities and brought the device over to the UK.

Motorola is currently busy working on the next Google phone –or so rumors go. According to recent reports, the new Motorola Shadow project is currently paving the way for the Nexus Two –an Android smart phone with a keyboard and possibly a dual core processor. A Nexus Phone based on the DROID design certainly sounds right up Motorola’s alley.
