To say that the iPad is a really big iPod Touch is not so misleading after all, despite the device offering significantly more in terms of features, hardware and capabilities, the iPad truly is an oversized Touch.
Adding more to this argument is the fact that unlike the iPhone for which OS updates are downloaded without a fee, any major updates to the iPad OS will have a cost after the very first major update for the device (which basically means that you get your first iPad OS update for free). It is not exactly a bad deal, as the OS usually only costs about £5.99, though it is something that would certainly surprise iPhone users who are used to having free software updates.
Anyway, there are already plenty of demands for the first major iPad update. Many are already complaining about the device’s lack of support for multi tasking and are already clamoring for Apple to add the feature in. Unlike Adobe Flash which Steve Jobs absolutely hates, many are wondering why multitasking is not present in the tablet.
As you might have guessed, this touch screen tablet serves as a web browser and uses an onscreen virtual keyboard for typing purposes. Users can go online using either WiFi or 3G connectivity (there is a non-3G version of the iPad that will also come out and it will strictly rely on WiFi access).
The device comes with a 9.7 inch capacitive touch screen display. It comes with an accelerometer and will auto rotate depending on the device’s orientation. The accelerometer also detects motions while playing game applications allowing users to use the tilt of the iPad to control the gameplay.
The iPad is expected to arrive in the UK by the end of April.
