Apple iPad makes its first music video

The Apple iPad 2 has changed everything again, well not really. But it would seem that way as the device can now go down in history as being the first tablet to shoot a music video, or make that a music video that was published.

The video for Eddy’s “Need” song was shot using a total of four iPad’s. One was mounted onto a steadicam, for obvious reasons, while another was fixed to a Kessler Crane Cineslider, a mini dolly on attached to a tripod for smoother camera movement.

The iPad also makes an appearance in the video twice, first showing Eddy singing through the lens of the device itself and secondly for the credits which were a series of shots taken with the iPad’s camera we assuming of a whiteboard with the names of the backup dancers, director, videographers etc.

As to whether all the footage was edited on an iPad 2 or not, we have no idea, but song is edgy and reminds you of the likes of Taio Cruz and David Guetta.

This is not the first time we have seen a device of the sort being used for a purpose it would usually not be associated with. Oldboy director Park Chan-wook shot a film recently using an iPhone 4 and there have been many other directors who have done so as well. Pamela Anderson appeared in The Commuter which was a short film shot with a Nokia N8.

While the iPad 2 is probably the first tablet to be used to shoot a music video, it is not the first to make a cameo in one. Recently, the LG Optimus Pad was unveiled in a clip for the Korean boy band star Seungri.
