However, the new Blackberry Style 9670 is set to change all that with its revolutionary looks and amazing feature list. The phone to start off with is available in two different colours that only enrich the style of this phone. Available in black and purple, the phone is stylish to look at in both of those.

The phone has two displays so that you can know nearly all the necessary information without having to open the phone itself. The internal display has a 360 x 400 resolution while the external display has a 240 x 320 resolution. The display supports nearly 65k colours and is quite simply brilliant to look at. The phone comes with the usual ‘Blackberry Kit’ that includes a Trackpad and a full QWERTY keyboard among many others like full email support and so on.

You can enjoy ultra-fast downloads with the new Blackberry Style 9670 as the phone has Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity. The phone is also super responsive at connecting to the networks. The phone has GPS and Blackberry Maps that offer lifetime navigation for free. This means that you can enjoy the world without having to rely on somebody else for directions. The phone offers 4.5 hours of talk time and nearly 14 hours of music playback time as it comes with a very powerful 1150 mAh battery.

The phone runs on the new Blackberry OS 6 and one of its main features is that, it allows multi-tasking unlike previous versions of the operating system. RIM has announced that the phone will be available from the 19th of October, so the phone should be readily available for sale right now in the UK markets.

Acer’s New Handset Brings Budget Android with QWERTY

As fun as it is to gander at the latest hardware and specs of the new high end smart phones that are being released, the real deal is when it comes to the low to mid range devices –after all, not everyone is willing to invest so much in a smart phone, and that is why cheap alternatives are always very important.

Acer recognizes the need to address the mid to low range smart phone market, and that is why they have come out with the beTouch series. While Acer’s Liquid line focuses more on the high end range, the Acer beTouch E130 juggles the tight balance between providing good hardware with keeping a low price tag.

The device’s 416MHz processor is undoubtedly slow by today’s standards, but it still gets the job done. Running the Android 1.6 Donut OS also means that the handset is able to access many of the Android’s newer features such as Map navigation and Google Goggles. So far, it has not been stated if the device would ever be updated to a later version of the OS.

The phone’s biggest charm is its front facing QWERTY keyboard. It may seem a little cramped for people who are not used to the layout, but anyone who has used a BlackBerry or a Palm would feel right at home. The keys are layered flat and are indistinguishable from each other; this means that users should expect the occasional typo when doing fast repetitive keystrokes. Aside from that, learning to use the beTouch E130’s keyboard takes only a short while. Users will be able to type long messages

Overall, the beTouch E130 is a great handset for anyone in a budget. With the Android operating system and the phone’s impressive keyboard, it’s a successful combination that is hard to beat.

Vlingo Now Available for the Android

Fans of the old BlackBerry Vlingo app will be happy to know that the software is now heading to the Android Market. This impressive little gadget will give you full hands free operation –well mostly, by reading out content to you as you handle more important things such as paying attention to the road while driving.

The Vlingo app’s function is quite simple; it will give you text-to-speech capability in plenty of functions. This is most useful when you need to check that latest email or text message but cannot afford to spend the time looking at your phone the whole time. As long as you are wearing a headset (or simply in a location where you can hear your phone well), you will not have any problems.

Not that Vlingo will not function when used with the speaker phone (most handsets have one anyway), but this is certainly not recommended if you are in a public location where other people may be able to overhear the contents of the messages that are being sent. After all, the last thing you want your colleagues in the office to hear is what the latest insider tips you are receiving. And this is why it is recommended to make use of a headset.

Privacy issues aside (which can be easily remedied anyway), the Vlingo app is immensely useful if not somewhat of a novelty function for some. It is pretty much expected that not everyone will need to have map data being read out to them (and Google already provides free voice guided sat nav), but there are certainly plenty of people who will find good use for Vlingo –many BlackBerry users did after all.

This paid app is already available for download at the Android market and is a well recommended download for people who are often on the go.

RIM Announces BlackBerry Alliance EMEA Innovation Awards

BlackBerry 9700RIM or Research in Motion recently announced the BlackBerry alliance program’s EMEA Innovation Awards winners of 2009. While running for the second consecutive year, the award showcased innovative organizations in EMEA region where the manufacturers have been coming up with innovative mobile applications as well as services for their customers on the BlackBerry platform.

Winners are categorized in seven categories. Applications demonstrate creativity, return on the investments and popularity with the users. An independent panel consisting of 13 judges sat together for selecting the winners. Such winners were named in the awards ceremony organized by BlackBerry EMEA Alliance Summit 2009.

The winners in the BlackBerry platforms are categorized as follows: -

  1. “Life On Blackberry” that helps the user find out what is around them and enables them searching on interactive maps, watching movie trailers as well as buying tickets.
  2. “Entertainment on BlackBerry” category in which the 7digital and develop IQ co created music application that helps the users of BlackBerry smart phones select and purchase music from a seven million strong catalogue of DRM free MP3 sets.
  3. “Connect On BlackBerry” is the category where Nimuzz enabled the smart phone users enjoy facilities of instant messaging, and other communication features including the social networking.
  4. “Driving Innovations in the Public Sector” is the Innova Telecom’s unique solution allowing the users to flag issues about public services and providing a workflow and approval solutions for addressing such issues.
  5. “Transforming Enterprise Business Performance” in which NTS developed distribution and logistic solution for internal communication process; “accelerating Innovation for Entrepreneurs” for the small and medium sized businesses, and “Delivering Service Excellence” including the popular IT desk help solutions are three other categories where awards were distributed to NTS, Elondra, and E-Office respectively.

In essence the award ceremony celebrated the success of the partners of EMEA those developed creative additions for BlackBerry Platform.
